Historic Stranahan House Museum
A trip to Fort Lauderdale FL would not be complete without a stop at the Historic Stranahan House Museum. It is located at 335 SE 6th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301. The building, which dates back to 1901, has been the home of a prominent businessman and is considered a founding father of Fort Lauderdale. Originally, the Stranahan family used it as a trading post and eventually, it became a town hall. The building was turned into a museum in 1984 and is open to the public. You can visit the house's interior and exterior as well as learn about the city's history, which includes its evolution into a city.
The house was restored by the Fort Lauderdale Board of Realtors and the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society. It is now a museum, and I enjoyed my tour of the museum's historic spaces. Another highlight of the city is Flamingo Gardens, a 60-acre park that features a wildlife sanctuary and botanical garden. The museum is part of a non-profit organization that helps save endangered animals. You'll be able to see live animals, and enjoy beautiful views of the gardens and the river.
When to Visit Fort Lauderdale, you can choose between winter and spring. Although both have their pros and cons, spring and fall are ideal seasons for visiting the Fort Lauderdale area. Winter is cold, so pack layers and a jacket, and summer is hot and humid. Avoid the hurricane season in October and November as the temperatures in Fort Lauderdale remain comfortable. So, you can plan your visit to the Historic Stranahan House Museum and take advantage of the beautiful weather that Florida offers all year round.
Another attraction of the city is the Packard Motor Company Museum, which focuses on historic Packard cars. Designed to mimic a Packard showroom, the museum has over 20 pre-war models and a gallery that is dedicated to individual parts. Visitors can enjoy the museum while learning about Fort Lauderdale's history. Learn more. If you are looking for a more unique experience, try deep sea fishing. There are plenty of companies that offer such trips.
There are many other things to do in Fort Lauderdale, and you can visit one or all of them while you are in the city. Its beaches and rivers are beautiful, and its arts and culture are vibrant. Its upscale Las Olas neighborhood is dotted with museums, galleries, and shops. The area has plenty to offer both indoor and outdoor activities, including many historic buildings, museums, and sailing charters.
